Utility trailer tents are an attractive option for the camping enthusiast. This trailer has an enclosed roof and walls as well as a bed to create a sleeping area. It can also protect cargo on the road. It's also great for transporting camping gear.
The present invention is a tent assembly designed to be used with a combination camper/utility trailer. The assembly can be easily set up and collapsed and can be stored in a sac-like container. Some embodiments will accept the tent assembly when it is in sleep mode. The assembly will then spring into position once the user positions the first configurable panel member.
In a first embodiment of the present invention, the tent assembly is formed from the frame assembly 214 and the tent covering 440. You can adjust the assembly to fit different sizes of utility trailers. The brackets, supports and other accessories that work with the truck's bed frame are used to accomplish this. The tent assembly210 is designed to fit within the trailer bed 14's interior. It can then be repositioned so that it will spring into place.
Another embodiment allows the assembly to be stored in an easily removable protective bag before being collapsed into a small container. The frame assembly and the table assembly are easily removed and can be attached to each other. The tent assembly can either be carried by its user or stored in the tent bag.
A utility trailer tent package is the third embodiment. The tent kit includes a frame assembly, several stands and a variety of brace supports. The frame assembly is made from poles that are joined with angle brackets. To allow the tent's body to fit over the frame, the skirt is attached to the frame. The skirt is secured to a channelstock. The brace supports attach the first and last side wall poles to the channel stock. The brace supports function like struts and help stabilize the first and second configurable panel members when they are in the sleeping position.
The assembly can be fitted onto a flatbed trailer in a fourth embodiment. To create a frame, the angle brackets are placed in channel stock. The retaining assembly consists of a retaining rail and a plurality of stay extensions that are coupled to the frame assembly. The retaining rail helps to stabilize the trailer and prevents the roof from buckling during transport. The retaining assembly can be adjusted to be able to accommodate the tent kit in a wide variety of different sized utility trailers.
