Hickory Nut Falls Campground provides a wide range of camping options. The campground's central location close to Chimney Rock State park makes it an ideal destination for outdoor enthusiasts as well as those looking for a peaceful getaway. You will find cabins and tent sites on the property, as well as covered decks and long-term leasing options. There are also toilets, showers, laundry facilities, and a few other amenities. The campground is open from April 1 through October 31.

Many hiking trails are available throughout the property for those who love to explore nature. The Great Woodland Adventure Trail is a 0.6 mile path with 12 discovery stations. These stations contain information and features about wildlife. Guests can find information about everything from black bears to loggerhead sea turtles. The trail has scenic views of a waterfall and the surrounding forest. This trail is particularly appealing in summer, when wild Hydrangea blooms along the trail.

Exclamation Point Trail is another interesting trail. The 2.2-mile hike, which is moderately to strenuous and between 2 and 3 miles long, passes through lush forests as well as natural cliffs. You can also climb to 2,480 feet. It is considered to be the most popular area for climbing, with some of the finest winter climbing in North Carolina.

While the Blue Ridge Parkway is a popular route, it is not the only way to experience the Blue Ridge Mountains. Pea Island National Wildlife Reserve is also available. Chimney Rock is only a short drive away from the Farm. The Farm also offers tours of the farm. You can also visit Stepp's Apple Orchard, where you can see an apple cannon and buy apples.

The campground offers RV hookups, tent sites, and riverside campsites. The campground is also pet-friendly, and small pets are welcome on leashes. The Hickory nut Falls Trail can be hiked by the more adventurous. This 1.4-mile hike will take you through a mature deciduous tree forest. The trail rewards you with breathtaking views of the falls and a beautiful ecosystem. The trail is moderately uphill, so it is not advisable for strollers. The trail passes through some rocky sections. It is possible for the falls to freeze so bring a warm jacket.
