Big Bear Family Campground is a small, family-run campground that offers a unique blend of old-fashioned forest charm with modern RV convenience. It has a small camp store and a centrally located toilet/shower area that allow guests to enjoy all the amenities of a resort without having to compromise the outdoors.

This campground is close to the Big Bear Discovery Center and offers spectacular views of the surrounding mountains.


Pineknot, Holcomb Valley and Heart Bar are some other campgrounds that can be found in the vicinity. Each one has its unique characteristics. The Heart Bar campground has a large area and is ideal for wildlife viewing, hiking and horseback riding. It is located near the San Gorgonio Wilderness. This means you will be able to see many species of flora, fauna, and wildlife. It offers vault toilets as well as drinking water.

Big Pine Flat may be the best option for you if you want a more remote camping experience. It is on the west side of the lake. The campsites there are more dry high desert sites. If you're not a fan of the wild, you can always book a campsite at the nearby Snow Summit Sky Chair. A ride on the chair will give you a stunning view of the mountains.

Another family-friendly mountaintop location is the Holcomb Valley Campground. Although it is slightly further from Big Bear Family Campground this campground offers easy access the Snow Summit Sky Chair and a variety of nearby hiking trails. There is also a marina that rents boats and a convenience store. It is home to many native grasses and shady trees.

There are several other campgrounds in the area, all of which are great for families. It doesn't matter what type of campground you choose; you will have a wonderful getaway. Heart Bar is one example. It has 93 campsites. Also, the campground is near San Gorgonio Wilderness.
