The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) is a non-camp youth-serving organization that uses the outdoors to develop character, leadership, and a sense of community. Thousands of youth and adults enjoy exciting, hands-on outdoor adventures in the summer months. The BSA strives to teach the life values. The curriculum is fun, engaging, and educational. Cub Scouting is also a family-based program that the BSA offers. Its mission is to encourage healthy and active living by young people. Its programs emphasize teamwork, personal accomplishment, and self-improvement. It includes activities like backpacking, hiking, camping, and hiking. The program encourages children to explore their imaginations and develop new skills.
Venturing, a youth-led program, combines Scouting's fundamental values with outdoor adventure. This program allows young adults to learn new skills, meet new friends, and develop real-world leadership. The program includes backpacking, camping, backcountry trips, and long-term, as well short-term, overnight camping. Participants have the opportunity to take part in extreme activities like rock climbing, kayaking, and other high-adventure pursuits throughout the program.
The BSA has several other camp options that can help scouts discover the great outdoors. Camp Tuckahoe (242-acres) is another facility that can be found on Stillwater Lake. Camp Circle X in Big Horn, which can be found in Tonner Canyon, is another popular facility.
The Boy Scouts of America's Paul Bunyan Scout Reservation spans 600 acres and borders Huron National Forest. It is situated in Texas Township, southwest Kalamazoo. It can also be found on M-33. This high-adventure camp is open to boys and girls from six to twelve years of age.
Camp Brorein, which is one of America's oldest Boy Scouts camps, was first opened in 1923. Two lakes and many Live Oak trees surround the camp. It has an indoor dining room and a shooting range. Scouts love this camp.
In the 1930s and 40s, camp operations were managed by Hudson County's Alexander Hamilton Council. It was one of the first to offer Wood Badge training in America. In 1979, the council closed its camp. The remaining 56 acres of land was sold.
The Flaming Arch Scout Reservation was founded in 1972. It consists three clear spring-fed natural lakes. It is situated near Cypress Gardens. The camp is also well-known for its natural beauty.
Four camps make up the S - F Scout Ranch. The Sinquefield Scout Ranch is 580 acres. It is a member the Mic-O-Say Scout honor organization and has a full wood shop and metal shop. It also offers scouting camps for ages ten through fourteen. It is the fourth camp in S - F.
Boy Scouts of America has a duty of care for its scouts. This requires that the organization provide proper training and that their volunteer troop leaders be properly supervised. The Youth Protection Program of the organization also fulfills this responsibility.
